A crime film in which a detective goes after a gang of counterfeiters.

Without social or romantic interests, young Basil Hammond goes to Paris to study paleontology and to bring back a report to his guardian on the manners and moral character of her granddaughter, Liane. At first he is disgusted by her attempts to vamp him, but eventually, he falls in love with her.

James Hazen, one-time crook, now wealthy and reformed, is recognized on his wedding day, by a former pal, Florrie Cook, who follows the young couple to Hazen's new home in the country. Hazen has isolated himself here in the hope of finding security in complete loneliness.

The film was a dramatic thriller based on a real-life maritime disaster. It depicted the tragic sinking of the Vega, a fast Great Lakes ore boat that was driven onto the rocks near the Fox Islands in Northern Lake Michigan during a massive storm five years prior

Young Doris Kane suspects that her fiance, Paul Evans, doesn't love her anymore. She finds out that he is now infatuated with a "vamp", Jeanne DuPre. Paul's father is appalled at his son's behavior, and devises a plan to break up the romance between his son and the vamp by making her fall for him and exposing her perfidy to his son.
