A movie based on the book by Christine Nöstlinger “Maikäfer, flieg! Mein Vater, das Kriegsende, Cohn und ich”

After the passing of her husband, the commissioned painter Anneliese Psiko decides to travel across the country. In the Austrian province of Styria, she discovers a strange work of art entitled "Weltmaschine" (World Machine). From now on, it will change her life significantly.

The Mupfer gang is again forced to admit defeat by the Schmutzer gang, and the Mupfers then begin to stir up trouble. If the bosses - Meier and Ferri - do not come up with a brillant idea soon, they will be toppled. Ivonka Pivonka, a 12-year-old girl who is inclined to snoop, is on the trail of three robbers of postal money transports. Unfortunately, Ivonka is more curious than she is careful. After being caught, she is locked up at gentle-natured Kitty's apartment. Meier and Ferri read about Ivonka's disappearance and decide to help her escape. With the help of Liese, Ivonka's best friend, and Alice and Aline, two elderly ladies, they begin to track down the postal robbers.

Konrad is a factory-made child, perfect in every way. When he is mistakenly delivered to the eccentric Mrs. Bartelotti, the factory demands his return. Konrad must go against everything he has been taught to stand up to his creators.

Twelve-year-old Marie has a very special relationship with the house where she lives with her extended family. Marie secretly talks to it as if it were alive and interprets strange occurrences in the somewhat dilapidated building as 'human' reactions and behaviors of the villa. When Marie's grandmother, who has been dreaming for years of making humanity happy with her environmentally friendly technical inventions, falls for a con artist, loses all her money, and the property is about to be auctioned off, the desperate girl tries everything to save her home. In doing so, she is not only 'actively' supported by the house, but also by her friends Stefan and Konrad. However, this is complicated by the fact that both of them want to "go out" with her and suddenly demand that she choose one of them.

Mrs Bartolotti doesn’t really like children. She is therefore completely taken aback when she receives a son in the post: Konrad. Konrad is actually delivered in a tin! He is dreadfully tidy and almost perfect and Mrs Bartolotti is very chaotic. She actually becomes so fond of him, however, that she never wants to let go of him again, even if the weird people from the tin factory are already looking for him...

Lemmi und die Schmöker (English: Lemmi and the Bookworms) was a German children's television series that presented books from 1973 to 1979 and again in a second series in 1983.
