Kenji Fukuma

The story of an angel who encounters a series of men in a public toilet. A fable about identity.

The tale follows the intentional non-adventures of quiet Tachibana (Takeshi Ito), a Tokyo drifter who has worked in a suburban sausage shop for several years without forging any real friendships.

Shuji, an unemployed young man, has been living a haphazard and lethargic life, cheating on his wife with his girlfriends and constantly asking his best friend for loans. Then one day, Shuji takes a train and arrives at a country town. There, he meets Sachiko, a woman who never smiles, and starts working as a live-in employee at the printing house where she works. Shuji has a lot of emotionless sex with Sachiko.

In this piece, I described the way of life of the poet Kenji Fukuma and his wife. I read and liked Mr Fukuma's poetry collection, "Country Life," and we began to correspond. Mr. Fukuma has doubts about modern urban life and is searching for a better place to live. I heard that he was interested in tai chi, a traditional Chinese martial art, and had begun to practice it, so I decided to photograph him and his wife as they naturally communicated with each other. Three high school girls about to take their final exam, secretly plan to ruin the diploma ceremony in order to avenge themselves of that school which treated them as delinquents. Two classmates who discovered their plan decide to join the rebellion. They steal all the graduation certificates, use their charms to get weapons from Jieitai soldiers and establish their base in the mountain.

The film follows a frustrated young man who yearns to be in the company of women. If at first he seems unable to make any kind of meaningful connection with them, he awakens dark feelings that will drive him to commit violent crimes after his first sexual experiences.

Mamoru Miyamoto is a book editor and his friend Masao Muraoka is a writer. Muraoka hasn't released a novel since "Aki no Riyuu." Masao has suffered from mental health issues and, because of this, his voice fails. The two men talk through written notes. It seems Mamoru believes in Masao’s talent as a writer and waits for him to write a new novel, but he also likes Masao's wife Misaki. One day, Miku, who has read Masao’s last novel “Aki no Riyuu” several times, appears in front of him. She tells him that she is so similar to the heroine of the novel and can understand his mind.

A wife with a fertility problem wants to use her sister's womb to have children, but her sister is enjoying her boyfriend and sexual freedom. The husband is a commanding chauvinist and this soon turns out to be an investigation into authority, patriarchy and conservatism vs. free love and youth culture.

The film uses both fantasy and realism in exploring how to live after your dreams have been lost, through the life of a woman who has been widowed.In a lonely spot in the Tokyo suburbs a guy dies of a heart attack. His name is Shinya (Eto Shuhei) and he sold used books online. His wife (Wada Misa) reads the notebook he left behind, and every so often she feels his presence at her side.

Kenji Fukuma, who was active as a poet, film director, and critic, passed away in April 2023. This is his seventh feature film as a director. The film depicts the interaction between a 77-year-old former sailor who lost his wife and a 2nd-year middle school girl who longs for freedom from her family and school.

Fantasy drama about the undulating emotions of a 20-year-old girl. Interweaves a tale that blurs dreams and reality, composed of interviews, poetry, and dance. Director Fukuma Kenji is also active as a poet. Yuki (Kohara Saori), a 20-year-old living by herself in Tokyo, happens upon a poetry reading by poetess Fuzuki Yumi. After that, Yuki loses sight of her purpose in life. In the process, another Yuki (Kawano Makiko) appears before her.

A humanistic drama about an encounter in the life of a woman around the age of 40, set during the Obon season when the living take time to reflect on the dead. Director Fukuma Kenji is also a poet and a university professor. Chikage (Yoshino Akira) is reunited with Shohei (Suzuki Tsunekichi), a man she once lived together with, and his daughter Saki (Kohara Saori). After several twists and turns, Chikage and Shohei come to share the same roof again, but Saki is unable to accept it. Then one year later during Obon, relations eventually thaw between Chikage and Saki.
