After a lavish dinner party, the guests find themselves unable to depart... and, over the next few days, all of their elaborate societal pretenses and façades deteriorate as they are reduced to living like animals.

Cantinflas works as a model of tuxedos in a prestigious store, your job is to use the smoking in the street along with an advertising sign on his back. The use of smoking gives you access to exclusive places and meet important people. A movie divided in two segments, the first "La puerta" (The Door) is about a high society gathering in which a door inside the mansion leads to a bizarre corridor where a naked and menacing human figure appears. The second "La mujer del carnicero" (The Butcher's Wife) is set during the Mexican revolution and is about horrifying hallucinations felt by a lieutenant after committing a murder.

María dreams of going to the capital to study piano and begins exchanging letters with Alberto, a composer. He takes advantage of the situation by sending his family away so he can deceive María and make her fall in love with him.
