The article is a great success and leads to a huge amount of reactions, mainly from other gay men who are leading a double life. He decides to meet a number of these letter writers and eventually is forced to come out.

England, during World War II. A girl from a very religious background comes to work as a kitchen maid in a girls' school. She meets another maid comes from London, who is much more sophisticated.

This black comedy is set in the future, where euthanasia is lawful and increasingly common, but it should still, ideally, be voluntary.

The lives of several families in the Yorkshire Dales revolve around a farm and the nearby village. With murders, affairs, lies, deceit, laughter and tears, it's all there in the village.
