In Mahoro, the fictional suburb of Tokyo, Tada works as a general problem solver for hire. One day, former classmate Gyoten appears unannounced. Both men are over 30 years old and divorced. With no explanation, Gyoten suddenly asks to spend the night at Tada's home. Eventually, Tada accepts Gyoten as his assistant and together they become involved in various cases concerning an assortment of people from different walks of life.

On the surface, the Kyobashis appear to be a happy family. Despite a family agreement that they are all open with each other, the entire household knows the opposite is true.

Yuka, who lost her husband Kozo in a car accident shortly after getting married, loses her age due to the shock. One day, Yuka takes care of a woman named Emi who was drunk on the roadside, and Emi gives her a spell to thank her. The next day, Yuka finds an unfamiliar door in the basement of the library where she works, and meets Kozo, who died 30 years ago, at the door.

Tadatoshi Ogita plays each.
