Nothing is what it seems during this brief meeting in an empty night shop. When Claire has to carry out a silly assignment from her sorority, Hafid is standing behind the counter. The serious looking Amsterdam guy seems to give her a taste of her own medicine. The question soon arises who is manipulating who. One thing is certain: after those few minutes when the lives of these completely different people intersect, everything will be forever different.

Former Amsterdam police detective Floris Wolfs has been transferred to the police department of the south-Dutch country town Maastricht. His metropolitan experience nicely complements the local expertise of his new country colleagues, who know the folks. Slowly he fits in, while solving countless crimes together with his female partner Eva van Dongen.

A successful vascular surgeon is suddenly confronted with a blood phobia, making it impossible for him to exercise his job in the hospital. He moves from the capital to the countryside to work as the GP of a village where he only knows his aunt. His predecessor was well liked, so his new community is less than welcoming. The empathic capabilities of the doctor leaves much to be desired, making it even harder for him to win his place in the close-knit community.

The new BNNVARA youth series *Taakstraf* follows Donny, Tess, Kyara, Younes, and Barry—five vastly different young people who must complete their community service together during the school holidays. Under the supervision of the clumsy work coordinator Sam, they work in the most unexpected places. From a dog shelter to a hospital, a farm, a food bank, and a music festival, even the simplest task invariably descends into total chaos... The series is not just about the punishment itself, but above all about the young people serving it. Along the way, the circumstances, home situations, and choices that led to their community service are revealed. In doing so, the series shows that a first impression rarely tells the whole story.
