When a hitman is murdered, he leaves behind Sujo, his beloved 4-year-old son. The shadow of violence stalks Sujo at every stage of his life. As he grows into a man, Sujo will discover that fulfilling his father's destiny seems inevitable.

Magdalena makes a journey to find her son, who has disappeared on his way to the Mexican border with the United States. Her odyssey takes her to meet Miguel, a man recently deported from the US. They start to travel together, Magdalena looking for her son, and Miguel hoping to see his mother again.

On an uninhabited island off the Mexican Pacific coast, members of the army do their uneventful duty. The film watches drills and everyday routines, but mainly the breaks which they spend playing board games in the shade of trees, in hammocks, swimming, flying kites or doing karaoke. The peaceful environment, however, does not hide the violent reality of their country which they are always confronted with, even out here.

Ana is running away from her hometown while Mar, an old acquaintance of hers, is coming back after a long absence. They find each other in the middle of the road and through the night, they make a journey amongst their fears to find out that still waters run deep.

The death of her sister has haunted Ana since her childhood. Ana has returned to Tijuana, her hometown, where she will have to fight this fragmented, cloudy and painful memory.
