Distraught, he leaves the ring, vowing never to box again, and changes his name to Bob Trent. Sometime later he fights out that not everything was as he thought it was.

While fishing, Claire is swept over the rapids and Grimshaw tries to rescue her. Both of them wind up in a remote gorge, and Grimshaw goes about building a hut as a shelter.
