Luiz Melodia

A woman is taken along with her mother in 1910 to a far-away desert by her husband, and after his passing, is forced to spend the next 59 years of her life hopelessly trying to escape it.

Part of a series of short documentaries about black musicians and singers made in the 1970s, it portrays Luiz Melodia in the intimacy of his life and the close relationship with his family and friends in the favela of Estácio, as well as stories about his career.

Recorded live at Circo Voador, Rio de Janeiro, on September 20, 2006. The album contains 16 songs that represent a summary of her different phases as a singer and songwriter, and that provoke emotion and confirm the artist's talent. Here, Alcione sings "Joana França", a song by Chico Buarque, Frejat performs a duet on "A mim e a mais nobody" and Luiz Melodia participates in "Tola foi você".

A docu-fiction film that dabbles on the soul of Rio de Janeiro culture as it exploits the figure of the local well-known archetype of the "malandro"
