Police officer Asger Holm, demoted to desk work as an alarm dispatcher, answers a call from a panicked woman who claims to have been kidnapped. Confined to the police station and with the phone as his only tool, Asger races against time to get help and find her.

The drama chronicles the affair between Inger, a young Danish woman from Copenhagen, and Kwame, an illegal immigrant from Ghana, that she meets while volunteering at a homeless shelter. Despite their cultural differences, and the disapproval of Inger’s own mother, the two quickly develop a strong bond and move in together. Everything seems perfect and serendipitous, but then Inger discovers a devastating secret that Kwame has kept hidden.

Ti can hear her mother talking to the demons, and she sees her changing and confined face. But the demons that the mother speaks with Ti can neither hear nor see. Outwards, Ti is forced to keep a straight face to protect her mother, while she herself is going under.
