Rade Vukotić

Jovča is a respected and rich man in the 19th-century Vranje. He loves his daughter Vaska a little bit too much, so he does not let any of the suitors, even the best ones, approach her. Over time, she starts a relationship with a servant she grew up with.

In Savamala, the most notorious part of Belgrade, lives an eighteen-year-old young man. In this turbulent atmosphere, different passions collide, and there are hints that the bloody strikes are a prelude to a major battle. The young man tries to escape from the slums and live in a better society. He falls in love and draws comics, while Savamala offers him the misery of everyday life, the world of criminals, gamblers, anarchists, singers and failed poets.

The title protagonist is Aleksandar Ignjatovic, a modest young man who spoke against the occupiers during the German occupation in the Second World War. In addition to the acted part, it also contains documentary segments, i.e. contemporary interviews with his friends, acquaintances and relatives.

Partly based on true events, when a group of dangerous international criminals tried to rob the National Theater in Belgrade.
