Asterix and Obelix Take On Caesar

Set in 50 B.C., Asterix and Obelix are living in a small but well-protected village in Gaul, where a magic potion concocted by Druids turns the townsfolk into mighty soldiers. When Roman troops carve a path through Gaul to reach the English Channel, Caesar and his aide de camp Detritus discover the secret elixir and capture the Druid leader who knows its formula, and Asterix and Obelix are sent off to rescue them.

Henri Savin has managed a trucking company for his lover, Dominique Montlaur, for many years. Now he is planning to leave her for Julie Manet, the woman he has made pregnant, and Dominique is hysterical. She first threatens suicide, then shows up at a meeting of Savin and Julie. Dominique tries everything she can think of to break Savin and Julie apart, to no avail. Frustrated in her efforts, she jumps off a cliff and dies. Savin insists that he and Julie lie to the police about the encounter, although Dominique's death was a suicide and therefore they had no direct hand in it. Detective Waldeck investigates Dominique's death.

To carry out his plan, he commits a robbery at the supermarket where his wife Chantal works. His plan goes wrong when he fatally wounds a store employee and a security guard. He manages to leave the supermarket unharmed, his loot in his pockets. However, one person witnessed the gruesome scene: Lucie, another cashier. Why does this woman, who seems to have all the evidence to incriminate him, remain silent? Louis is determined to get to know Lucie to better understand the intentions of this mysterious man.
