This telefilm in black and white is diffused on the first French chain the November 6th 1965. It undoubtedly remains the most known adaptation of the Dom Juan of Molière.

Six people travel by overnight train from Marseilles to Paris. When they arrive, one of them, a young woman, is found dead in a sleeping berth. The police, led by Inspector Grazzi, investigate the other five passengers, suspecting that one among them was responsible. However, as the investigation is stepped up, the others start turning up dead. It's up to the remaining two to solve the case, lest they become the next victims.

The story takes place in the racecourses around Paris. A so-called major sells his tips to naive characters.

Preparing her gynecology thesis, Claude Sauvage, at the urging of a village doctor, Vincent Ferrière, agrees to replace him for a few days. During this time, she took it upon herself to abort the schoolteacher, who was afraid of giving birth to a handicapped child. But an anonymous letter denounces her, and she goes on trial.

A teen marries the Prince of Clèves, more than twice her age, which makes her an official Princess, a position she takes to heart. Although distracted by elite entertainments often found at court, the princess cannot help but mourn her impossible love for the dashing Duke of Nemours.

After twenty-seven long months spent in Algeria, Frédéric Simon, a young photographer is determined to forget this time of trouble. Now that the Army has finally discharged him he wants to live the good life. And at first, things go according to his wishes: not only does he marry Sylvie but they are invited by a wealthy man to Monte Carlo, where they spend a dream honeymoon. But back in Paris, hard times await them. Not finding work easily along with having to live in a cramped apartment make Frédéric bitter and unpleasant. When Sylvie becomes pregnant, he slams the door and finds consolation in the arms of Christine, an ex girlfriend, which he soon regrets. At last, the situation improves. Frédéric finds work and starts making money as a fashion photographer. But the good life cannot go on: one morning a policeman knocks at the young couple's door: the country wants Frédéric back in the Army.

A young man, Lagardère, discovers that a plot is afoot to assassinate the Duke of Nevers. He warns him and flees with his daughter, Aurore. Fifteen years pass. Lagardère has raised Aurore as his own, but her mother seeks her out and has her abducted by her men. With the help of two friends, Lagardère rescues the girl and confronts her kidnappers.

Lagardère is a French miniseries consisting of six 50-minute episodes, created by Marcel Jullian based on Paul Féval's novel Le Bossu (the eighth film adaptation outside of theater, out of 10 known adaptations), and some of the sequels imagined by Paul Féval Jr.1, directed by Jean-Pierre Decourt, and broadcast from September 20 to October 25, 1967, on the first channel of ORTF.
