Cosmas (Kostas Hadjichristos) learns that his mother needs to be immediately subjected to surgery. He asks the help of a relative (Nikos Fermas) to cover the expenses. He finds it difficult to overcome them, as he tries to raise money to marry his eminent heart (Martha Vourtsi). His relative agrees to pay, but asks Kosma to marry the Spanish singer (Martha Karayiannis) of the cabaret she runs, so that she can stay legally in Greece. Marriage becomes a secular event and is publicized, creating in Kosmas many problems and misunderstandings with his fiancé. Ultimately, a series of happy times will cancel the fake marriage, mother's surgery, and leave Kosmas the money to marry and start married life with greater financial comfort.

With the help of Papa-Sinisios and a cabaret singer, they set off with other patriots for the coast of Asia Minor, but off the coast of Samos they encounter a German frigate and Loukas is lost at sea. The bad news reaches Cyprus and plunges his beloved Aphrodite into grief. Aphrodite's father decides to marry her off to Telis. At the end of the war, Loukas, who had been rescued, returns to the island and claims Aphrodite, but her father forces him to write to her saying that he does not love her. Aphrodite continues to love him, and Telis is forced to step aside, leaving her free to be with her beloved.

A section of the National Resistance, led by Andreas, plans an act of sabotage against the occupiers. Martha offers valuable assistance in achieving their goals, thanks to her relationship with an SS officer. The first phase of the sabotage involves stealing documents from Nazi headquarters. The mission is successful, but the Germans' retaliation is terrible. They discover, arrest, and execute all members of the resistance group. They kill Martha and Fritz. Andreas leaves to continue the resistance in the Middle East.

Two friends, street vendors, pretend to be tourists, hoping to find a wealthy bride. They end up, along with another friend, at a posh hotel where, after many twists and turns, they fall in love with the women of their dreams.
