Boca Vieja, where my maternal roots lie, is a quaint fishing and farming village in southern Mexico. Here, people live in harmony with the land and sea, but each rainy season forces them to retreat, letting nature reclaim its space. This cycle persists as the village faces the constant threat of losing their land.

On the 11th day of Death (Year 10 Pedernal), 9 Serpent ‘Fire Eagle’ entered the temazcal determined to fulfill his last assignment.

The legend of an ancient tree that gave birth to Yosonuviko, the cloud people, reenters the collective memory through the ancient language of rain, Sa’an Savi, evoking the fragility of the human condition amid nature’s immensity. A metaphor for life over time that reminds us of the importance of coexistence with nature.

We are Nivi Savi, rain people, Mixtecos; a people that disperses like the clouds and every year returns to earth to continue to flourish the memory of their ancestors.

The economy has collapsed. In a universe of moral and economic impoverishment, we find Flavia, a spoiled teenager with artistic aspirations that are somewhat frustrated when she is not accepted at the University. Her neighbor Martin, a mature man with rigid routines, is her antipode. When Flavia meets Martin, there are sparks of friction at all times, and the situation is unlikely to get any better.
