Perry Ashwell is a self-satisfied child psychologist who takes his colleagues and wife somewhat for granted. Quaglini is no respecter of convention, and April Ashwell is extremely attractive.

Unbeknownst to the citizenry, the railroad is planning to build tracks through town and Benton is attempting to secure the land by scaring off the settlers.
