In a middle-class neighbourhood in a city in the countryside of Brazil, the real estate speculation is a menace to the affective memory of a group of friends. Their answer to this imminent transformation is to fuck in the construction sites. And what about love? Is love just a construction?

An albino boy named Sanã lives on the island of Lençóis, an untouched paradise in northeastern Maranhão state. Surrounded by dunes, he is mimicked in a very white landscape, under a scalding sun from which he cannot escape. In this microcosm ruled by wind and the tides, Sanã builds his own private world.

The horror and sublime of the urban environment are in constant change, in a time where nothing is finished or definite. Construction and destruction, systole and diastole are expressed in the poetics of the contemporary polis.

As rain falls in São Paulo, in an unassuming apartment building a random Grindr hookup is multiplying into a frenzied orgy. Over the course of a day and into the night, Matias and his new lovers connect over fucking, a cornucopia of drugs, and classic literature. Matias confides in his companions about his life — his HIV status, his old lovers, his relationship with drugs — while he ponders what the future holds in a fast-changing, post-pandemic world. In his heightened state, Matias is visited by the apparition of G.H., the titular figure from Clarice Lispector‘s landmark novel The Passion According to G.H.

Recent studies suggest that the average adult will spend at least half of their life in front of a screen. This documentary explores how Brazilian digital influencers are using that reality to fuel activism on social issues such as racial representation, LGBTQ+ rights, feminism, and politics. Stuck at home with social media as their only tool to make their voices heard, nine influencers create content across multiple platforms, raising awareness about taboo subjects in an accessible and deconstructed way while sharing their daily lives. Through the communities they build online, they question whether our screens have become true mirrors of the souls of today’s societies.

The documentary starts from the religious conflicts that exist in Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte's favelas and suburbs to analyze the growing conservative wave that hovers over the country.
