Another sketch chronicles the achievements of African Americans while still another pays tongue-in-cheek tribute to Texas.

City Girl

In this tearful crime melodrama, a waitress becomes so taken with her dream of living in posh luxury and comfort that she leaves her honest boyfriend, who has just been promoted to assistant district attorney, to take up with a notorious gangster who lavishes her with stolen furs and fabulous diamonds. Unfortunately, the luxury and comfort come with a life of crime and soon she is wanted for murder and jail-breaking.

Too Hot to Handle

After Lincoln's assassination, Johnson becomes the President and became the first U.S. president ever to be impeached.

The Shepherd of the Hills

Young Matt Matthews, an Ozark Mountains moonshiner, hates the father he has never seen, who apparently deserted Matt's mother and left her to die. His obsession contributes to the hatred rampant in the mountains. However, the arrival of a stranger, Daniel Howitt, begins to positively affect the mountain people, who learn to shed their hatred under his gentle influence.

Wagon Train

The series initially starred veteran movie supporting actor Ward Bond as the wagon master, later replaced upon his death by John McIntire, and Robert Horton as the scout, subsequently replaced by lookalike Robert Fuller a year after Horton had decided to leave the series. The series was inspired by the 1950 film Wagon Master directed by John Ford and starring Ben Johnson, Harry Carey Jr. and Ward Bond, and harkens back to the early widescreen wagon train epic The Big Trail starring John Wayne and featuring Bond in his first major screen appearance playing a supporting role. Horton's buckskin outfit as the scout in the first season of the television series resembles Wayne's, who also played the wagon train's scout in the earlier film.
