After young Clara receives a wooden nutcracker as a Christmas gift, she dreams about a fantastical battle between her Nutcracker Prince and the evil Mouse King. At stake is the Nutcracker's freedom - and Clara's future happiness.

In a faraway kingdom, the king and queen had desired a child of their very own for a long time and when their wish finally came true, they announced a grand celebration at the palace. All of the fairies from the kingdom were invited and immediately named as godmothers for their new child, whose name was Felicity, which means "happiness".

In this prelude to the television series 'The Raccoons', Bert, Melissa, and Ralph Raccoon have their home accidentally stolen when it is cut down to become a Christmas tree.

Dottie, a clumsy little fairy with glasses, red curls and a yellow raincoat is training to become a good tooth fairy. One night, it's her turn to make a visit to the house of a little girl named Lori, who had begun to doubt the existence of fairies. Dottie accidentally wakes up Lori as she is searching under her pillow, and even though Lori is very happy to see her, Dottie knows she's broken one of the most important rules of the tooth-fairies. Lori, who also wears glasses and has freckles, invites Dottie to stay in her home for a few days...

Sally, the little sister of teddy bear Ben's owner, Simon, would like her very own teddy bear and asks Santa Claus for one. Simon teases Sally about her letter to Santa, whose existence he is a little skeptical about, and at the same time tries to find out what it is she wants. But for Sally, it is a secret between herself, Santa and Ben.

"The Raccoons and the Lost Star" is the last totally original Raccoons .... On a far-away planet, Cyril Sneer plots his takeover of earth.

The special, a follow-up to the previous installment The Land Without Feelings (from 1983), sees the return of the ten original Bears and the rarely-seen Cloud Keeper, as well as the villain Professor Coldheart. In addition, the special introduces Baby Hugs, Baby Tugs, Grams Bear, and Professor Coldheart's sidekick, Frostbite.

The Raccoons on Ice is the second of four specials leading up to the television series The Raccoons. It initially aired on CBC and in syndication on December 20, 1981.
