Antoine and Olga, a French couple, have been living in a small village in Galicia for a long time. They practice eco-responsible agriculture and restore abandoned houses to facilitate repopulation. Everything should be idyllic except for their opposition to a wind turbine project that creates a serious conflict with their neighbors. The tension will rise to the point of irreparability.

Two old mates from high-school meet after 30 years. What seems like a casual encounter gradually becomes more and more strange.

In the year 2000, Nevenka Fernández, 24 years old, Councilor for Finance in the Ponferrada City Council, suffered relentless persecution, both sentimental and professional, by the mayor, a man accustomed to doing his will politically and personally. Galicia, northern Spain, January 2, 1921. The steamship Santa Isabel, sailing towards Argentina with more than two hundred emigrants on board, sinks off the coast of Sálvora Island. Three island women, María, Josefa and Cipriana, who have bravely set sail aboard a fragile skiff to save the shipwrecked, are treated as heroes by the cynical authorities; but León, an inquisitive and tenacious Argentinean journalist, starts asking uncomfortable questions.

One morning, the body of a sailor is found lying on the beach, washed in by the tide.. In the 1980's, Pilar, an ordinary woman, married, about forty years, discovers that one of their three children are addicted to heroin. After an initial period of uncertainty, Pilar contact with other parents in similar situations who come to a precarious Civic Center helps the addict, but soon realizes that many things have to change in and out of home so your child can be saved. Thus was born the desire to do more than complain and starts along with other parents, but especially mothers, an arduous journey of withdrawal of drug trafficking in Galicia.

When high school teacher Tomás finds the bloodied, dying mayoress of his hometown high up on his local cliffs, he not only becomes obsessed with the case but turns into its first suspect. Though solving the case is local cop Maite's job, Tomás doesn't care if his own private investigation gets in her way. Solving the case might just give Tomás' life the purpose he has been silently dreaming of for so long. Though clashing more than once, the two of them come close as can be to finding the murderer: Norma, Tomas' very own physiotherapist. She killed the mayoress in a fit of rage after finding out one of her many dark secrets - one that lies many years behind but one that has deeply affected her and her family. A twist of fate has it, however, that Norma remains undiscovered; her former fear and powerlessness turn to empowerment and confidence. Then a second murder stirs up the waters. Now an unlikely team, Maite and Tomás resume the hunt for a murderer who is closer than they imagine.
