Hynek Michánek wants to study medicine but fails his entrance exams five times. He starts a job as an orderly in a district hospital where one of the doctors on the examining board works as well. He feels no-one takes him seriously and he loathes the doctors, who treat him with disdain. When an old man begs him to end his pain and suffering by helping him to die, Hynek gives him a "liberating" injection. But now he has done it once, he finds he can't stop. He continues killing other patients, even though he knows he can't get away with it for long.

A motley of vacationers on a bus headed for a week long vacation at a seaside resort. Among them: a single, moderately famous singer; a nerdy, onanistic man; a couple of old ladies reaching senility; a couple of young gals looking for an amorous adventure; a family with a boy unsure about where he fits sexually; a beautiful woman that, besides working as a trip guide, has pretensions of being a music composer; a couple of gay men; and another family where the parents are stuck in a sexual ice age while their twentyish daughter is looking to connect with a man.

Josef is looking forward to finally fulfilling his old dream of becoming a street clown after retirement. With his charm, he charms even the vigorous Maruška, the owner of the mobile cafe. It's like the two of you have been looking for each other all your life. But isn't it a little late for fateful love? In addition, his daughter Anička and five-year-old Honzík are currently moving into the villa with Josef. She thinks she's done with men for good, but meeting her old love, Pavel, hits her in the heart. A new girl, Evička, joins Honzík in kindergarten. Honzík experiences the feelings associated with love for the first time, he does not fully understand them, so he gathers advice from his mother, grandfather Josef or sympathetic uncle Karel. He also meets love in kindergarten when he falls in love with Honzík's teacher, Eliška. And to add to the rapprochement, Karl's basset Váleček gets along very well with Elišča's basset Šalina.

Colorful characters of various ages, personalities, professions, and hobbies are all searching for happiness, though each in a different place and with a different outcome.

The stories of three women who know each other, or get to know each other. They are brought together by friendship, a man and a little five-year-old girl. Simona rebuilds her life after she divorces and her son decides to live with his father. Natalie finds love in the form of a widower with a young daughter and a devoted grandmother. And even at retirement age, Eva discovers that her life still includes the love of a partner, not just that of her granddaughter.

Tereza is a former prima ballerina at the National Theater who ended her career as a professional dancer after an injury and moved with her husband Petr and seven-year-old daughter Maruška to an abandoned mill in the Broumov region, which she inherited from her grandmother. With dogged determination and limited financial resources, she is renovating the building to create a new home for her family. She earns extra money by running a physical education club at the local school.

Jura, a reluctant university student already smitten with someone else, is swept off by his father’s eccentric friend Stano to fulfill an age-old promise and meet the mysterious bride from a Slovak village. What follows is a rollicking road trip of comic mishaps and heartfelt moments that ultimately teaches them all about friendship, adventure, and finding one’s own path.
