An elderly man tries to learn to live and be independent after the death of his wife.

Roger and Lars are family men who live a life as a traveling construction workers on large sites worldwide. They are offered a very generous contract they can't turn down. One-years work for a ten year salary. All they have to do is sign and honor the contract. But they don't know where they are going or what they are supposed to build. Blindfolded they are brought to a place with summer the year round. At this strange place they meet fellow workers. Together, they realize that there is something very wrong in this paradise.

Late 19th century. In the little village of Bessinge near Hörby, Skåne, have the farmer and churchwarden Ola Månsson been murdered. Three people stand trial, two men and one woman. The woman is his wife.

Martin Svensson was an evil and brutal man that drifted around in Skåne with his family in the beginning of the 20th century.

After 24 hours of searching, the body of ex policeman Tore Hedin is found in Brösarps-lake in Skåne. The year was 1952.

Before World War II, Swedish workers had to deal with low wages, scarce work, and the extensive importation of foreign labor, particularly for the purpose of breaking strikes. This did not make foreigners of any stripe very popular, and those from "guest worker" countries were particularly disliked. In this film, set in 1938, a half-Polish boy goes to Poland in search of his mother, runs into financial and psychological difficulties there, and is sent back to a Swedish mental hospital. In another story, an unfortunate woman suffers a miscarriage and ends up at the asylum where the Polish boy is being kept.
