September 1980. Mustafa 'Mehmet Ali Alabora' and his wife, who're both laborers are married for 5 years. The couple has nothing to do with politics and spend their days happily with their 3 year old daughter and their TV, despite the clamor of guns clashing outside every night. One Friday morning, they wake up and hear the voice of Hasan Mutlucan on radio and observe soldiers marching through the streets, the very confirmation of the military coup that has taken place. Arrests begin instantly in workplace and neighborhood. Yet Mustafa, far from being disturbed, assumes that all apprehensions must have rightful reasons. Until the night he's taken into custody, charged with the crimes of a militant code named "Sehmuz".

While the group is enjoying their vacation, one day Deniz (Berrak Tüzünataç), the daughter of one of Istanbul's wealthiest families, comes aboard their boat. Deniz's sarcastic and reckless attitude affects Mert. Until that day, Mert had always done what he was supposed to do, following the path his family had laid out for him. Now, he begins to question himself. To find out whether a handful of sea is truly the sea, he has a long journey ahead of him.

Captain of Yugoslavia, close guard of Tito, army national team captain and Yugoslavia's first world karate champion. The civil war in Yugoslavia also changes a lot in Alia's life with everyday life. Alia, who lost everything but his family in the war, is forced to take refuge with a Bosnian refugee camp under the protection of the United Nations, along with Anna, a Serb-based wife and two young children.
