Paris, 1942. In the middle of the Occupation, Victor Gence, an unscrupulous merchant, buys, at vastly low prices, artworks belonging to Jewish collectors. Informed by a concierge, he manages to enter the apartment of Mr. Klein who apparently has a fabulous collection.

Beginning with Guernica and the Chinese cities of Chongqing and Shanghai in 1937 and ending with the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945, World War Two saw a new art of warfare in the form of extensive, worldwide bombing campaigns.

On 20 October 1983, the GIGN discovered a woman in Saint-Flour (Auvergne) who had been confined for nearly four decades: Esther Albouy. Her head had been shaved at the Liberation for alleged acts of collaboration, and she is said to have been locked away by her own family. It was thus that the young woman is said to have gone mad, dragging her brothers into her delusions and turning this secluded existence into a nightmare.

This film is an uncompromising portrait of a woman who no-one could have imagined in a position of power a few years ago . A look at the woman and, through her, at the party that continuously raises concerns and stirs up the media.
