Snowboarders

Rendy and Jáchym have enough of spending New Year's Eve with their parents plus they want to learn how to ride a snowboard. They have not yet stood on a real board, just a video game one. They win a season pass at the Arcade and they arrange an accommodation at Jáchym's cousin Milan's mountain lodge. Jáchym has to take his annoying sister Marta with him. They are allowed to stay in exchange for doing housework. The lodge is also housing three hot girls who the boys fall in love with. Jáchym and Rendy have to walk the dog, clean the dishes, clean the lodge, get along with Marta and other things all while they learn how to snowboard and impress the girls.

A hapless Prague actor is drafted at the last minute to stand in for the star of Boskovice’s Wild West Show, just to discover that throwing tomahawks at full gallop, surviving saloon can-can dancers, and keeping up with town “cowboys” is far more perilous than it looks on TV. As he stumbles through shoot-outs and broken bones (both of his, no less), he finds himself equally disarmed by the town’s fierce Western spirit, and by the smile of its most captivating beauty.

The mistake had been made, and now what? How to separate the young couple without arousing their suspicions, and especially those of the rest of the family? Yes, a diabolical plan must be devised...

She earns extra money by running a physical education club at the local school.

Though he’s a conscientious physician, he hasn’t learned to exploit his calling for personal gain the way many of his former classmates or hospital colleagues do. Happily settled in a modest two-room apartment with his lovely wife Zuzana and his dreadful mother-in-law Marie Košvancová, Čeněk cheerfully drops everything at any hour to answer the doorbell and tend to whoever needs him. His humble generosity scandalizes Marie, who’d much rather have a “real” Doctor as a son-in-law: someone famous, wealthy, and who never works for free, unlike Čeněk.

All My Loved Ones

Told from the perspective of man reflecting on his childhood in Prague in the early years of World War II and the eventual destruction of his family as the Nazis rise to power. The storyline focuses heavily on Jewish-Czech Silberstein family members. Drama was filmed on the real events as a tribute to Mr. Nicholas Winton, the British humanitarian who organized the rescue of 669 children, most of them Jewish, from Czechoslovakia on the eve of the Second World War in an operation later known as the Czech Kindertransport from German-occupied Czechoslovakia and likely death in the Holocaust.

Veni, vidi, vici

Honza is a normal 19-year-old boy from Ústí nad Labem who is head over heels in love with his girlfriend, student and photographer Terezka. After the tragic death of his father, a passionate golfer, Honza grows up with only his mother and little brother Lukášek. The family is struggling to cope with the death of their father, and on top of that, they are facing financial problems in the form of debt collectors enforcing claims for a loan shark loan for their apartment.

The Wonderful Years That Sucked

Capturing the dark humor of Czech author Michal Viewegh's chronicle of life after the Velvet Revolution, this black comedy chronicles three decades in the life of a small Czech family. While the original novel centered on the protagonist Kvido from his conception through his adulthood, first time director Petr Nikolaev and screenwriter Jan Novak changed the focus to his parents Milena, an extremely self-effacing lawyer who acts on stage in her spare time, and Ales, a rather aimless government worker who tends to drift wherever the wind takes him. The lives of Ales and Milena change dramatically following the Russian invasion of Prague in 1968.

Vyžilý Boudník

Two inseparable friends, Vyžilý and Boudník, a village self-made talent and a not-so-successful professional theatre actor, want to make a living as entertainers. But they are running up against both the ceiling of their abilities and the disfavour of the approval authorities. The normalization era of the 70s and 80s does not favour anything distinctive and both heroes repeatedly experience setbacks. Although the story of a lost generation was planned at the end of the former regime, it was not released until 1990.

Tomáš and Věrka are a young couple expecting their first child and are working hard to finish building a small family house in a village just outside Prague. The expectant father takes on more and more work in an effort to survive the difficult test of life, the young mother is disgusted with herself due to the dramatic changes in her prenatal moods, and there is Tomáš's father, who is not afraid to tell the young people, and especially Věrka, straight out what he thinks of their actions. Can you manage pregnancy and not go crazy about it? Especially when there is a calculating doula who Věrka listens to much more than her husband? A comedy about the fact that pregnancy is not an illness, but it can really take its toll on everyone!

Dvojka

The five-year relationship between older Michal and Veronika has reached a crossroads. While he is already planning children and a family, she feels that she has not experienced anything yet and wants to have fun. They live side by side without really being together. Under pressure from arguments and fear of breaking up, Michal comes up with a mysterious vacation for Veronika. From the beginning, however, everything is different from what the meticulous Michal had planned, and Veronika shows her disappointment. The trip through Scandinavia and the situations it puts them in hold up a mirror to themselves and their relationship. Everything seems to confirm that they should no longer be together. An encounter with Šimon, an adventurer and petty thief who is always on the road, gives their lives and their relationship an unexpected reflection and moves them forward.

The heavenly student Angelo Žáček doesn't really get the theory. Would he rather prove his abilities in practice? Reforming the sinner Vinck, whom all of heaven has given up on, is child's play for him, and the guardian angel diploma will be in the bag. He is even willing to use methods that are not exactly heavenly. The Master is overcome with despair. Heaven has never seen anything like what the rash Žáček is about to do. The angry teacher sets off after his wayward student to prevent him from committing his unangelic deed. And he might have succeeded, had he arrived a moment earlier. Now the sinner is even closer to hell, and the student will never become a guardian angel. The shaken student, under the Master's supervision, once again sets out to reform the incorrigible Vinck, but this time, if necessary, he will risk his own skin...

Volga

Standa Pekárek has three wishes in life: to drive a volga, to drive for the Humour and Folk Entertainment editorial office and to drive Got'ák. The five-part miniseries Volha is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Karel Hynia, written in an extraordinary, bizarre and precisely echoed language. It can be perceived as a peculiar history of Czechoslovak television with a number of incredible, albeit real, "stories from the set". At the same time, however, it is a portrait of its main character - a limited egocentric who excels in inventing small tricks and deceptions - how to steal petrol, fake mileage, cheat his wife, get rid of the competition. Logically, he then also becomes a StB collaborator (with the code name Volha) who informs on all his co-workers and passengers without any remorse.
