Based on Oscar Wilde's play, the films tells the story of how Salomé agrees to dance for King Herod in return for the head of John the Baptist.

Nita, a former singer, loses her voice and husband. To support her child, she becomes a cafe dancer. When her husband dies, she leaves her child at a mission. Nita regains her voice, becomes an opera star and reunites with her child.

To escape a loathsome marriage to the king of a neighboring principality, Princess Isabel flees her kingdom for England, where she is rescued by Lord Anthony Conway. His friends are distressed by his gay escapades, and they rebel when he encourages them to entertain the princess, assuming her to be an actress whom she strongly resembles. Returning to her country with the Englishman, she realizes that she must marry the neighboring king to save her country.

Eddie Manning, on a secret mission in Central America, is apparently penniless, and he becomes friends with a street urchin named Muggsy. When Muggsy is knocked down by a car, Manning meets its owner, Miriam Folansbee, and she offers him a job as a chauffeur. There is a plot to overthrow the country and Inez, a dancer at a cafe, tells Manning that Carlos Medina is the leader of the revolutionaries.
