Directed by Junya Sato and based on a book by Jun Henmi, "Yamato" has a framing story set in the present day and uses flashbacks to tell the story of the crew of the World War II Japanese battleship Yamato. The film was never released in the United States, where reviewers who have seen it have compared the military epic to "Titanic" and "Saving Private Ryan."

Koji Namiki is a young pitcher who has shown great promise on the diamond by winning the National High School Baseball Championships. Shortly after entering college, however, Namiki's athletic career is called into question after he suffers a severe elbow injury. But despite a disheartening diagnosis, Namiki is determined to make a comeback. With a little help from his teammates it appears that he is getting back on track, too. In his second year as a police officer, he was scouted by the NPS. His strength is hand to hand combat at close range. He is also blunt with strangers. Iori (Gou Ayano) is a member of SAT. He is the best shooter in the group and possesses a calm and steady personality. Ichigo and Iori, with their different personalities, find themselves having constant conflicts.
