Aparna's father, a police officer, fixes her marriage of his own choice. Aparna does not agree with her father and she flees from home. Her father arrests Aparna's friends and interrogates them one by one.

The film documents one of the largest Indian religious fairs, the Kumbh Mela, which is held at the confluence of the rivers Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati. The action is seen through the eyes of Shubhendu Chatterjee who has come to the Mela not out of any religious sentiment but to see and understand people and seek the reason why “….multitudes upon multitudes of the old and weak and the young and frail enter without hesitation or complaint upon such incredible journeys and endure the resultant miseries without repining.” (Mark Twain after visiting the 1895 Mela)

The journey of a woman from a mere homemaker to a woman seeking her self identity. This search for self identity is sparked off by a young bohemian photographer, with whom she falls in love while he photographs her for a magazine doing her daily chores.

Kabita, a middle-class working woman, looks after and tries to financially support her family. Soon, she sacrifices the love of her life for her widowed sister.

Rajesh Banerjee came to Ranipur to visit his father, Bhabesh Banerjee. Vabesh Banerjee is a greedy businessman and a loose character. Bhabesh wants to stand for election and to reduce his declarable wealth he gifts his money to his son. Bhabesh's wife reveals the whole plot to Rajesh and Rajesh cannot accept his ways. The police are brought in and Bhabesh commits suicide unrepentant till the end.

Suhas brings Rakesh to Kolkata Race Course at Hastings, the largest horse race venue in India. The latter knows which horse is going to win. Based on Samaresh Majumdar's first novel.

Saheb, a jovial, friendly, and kind-hearted boy loved to play soccer. He was very much neglected by his selfish brothers. Only his sister-in-law and his only sister Boolti appreciated and took care of him. Saheb had the potential to become a good goalkeeper, but a lack of support and care from his family became the main obstacle to his growth. Suddenly Boolti's marriage was fixed with a well-educated family. The budget of the event made Saheb's family helpless. At that time, Saheb sold one of his kidneys and spoiled his football career. No one was aware of his decision. On the day of his sister's marriage when everyone was enjoying themselves, Saheb was fighting for his life. Suddenly his sister-in-law came to know everything and became very upset. All his brothers were imposing allegations against him for that unaccounted money, and then his sister-in-law exposed everything and made them quiet. At last, Saheb's incompetent father went to hospital and mourned for his neglected child.

Rawmapawdo is a poor farmer in Bengal who reunites with his ravaged wife and starts afresh with the help of Shankar, a social reformer.
