Yekaterina Melentyeva

Set during the 1939–1940 Winter War, the film follows a group of young women from Leningrad who volunteer for service at the front. Working as nurses in hospitals and on the battlefield, they devote themselves to saving the lives of wounded soldiers, while also taking up arms alongside the men in combat. Through hardship and sacrifice, their courage forges bonds of friendship and love that endure amid the trials of war.

The front-line friends during the heavy battle swore to each other that the one who would survive would continue the work of the deceased. Mikhail Nesterov remained alive and the main business of his life was the search for a deposit of valuable clay. These searches began his friend before the war, in remote taiga places. Yevdokiya Perevalova — the widow of a deceased friend decides to help Nesterov get to those deaf places...

After graduating from college, a young doctor leaves his beloved girlfriend behind in the city and returns to his native village, where he energetically sets to work. The hospital is in complete disrepair. But the hero does not despair and even makes a scientific discovery that helps restore the sight of his old teacher and his former fiancée's sister.
