Synopsis Inspired by Robert Walser’s legendary novella. A walk through the streets of mid-pandemic Rome where an opinionated writer engages with a diverse array of characters.

Carlo and Laura attend the Conservatory. They meet there, fall in love, and after a while decide to move in together in the large house he inherited from his parents. They want to furnish it together and thus embark on a great adventure.

Sergio and Angela are expecting a baby. He works in a shopping center in Genoa, while she, a Spanish woman devoted to the Virgin of Pilar, hopes for a miracle. Yes, because their unborn child has serious malformations, and the couple has decided to give birth anyway so that the baby's organs can be donated to other children...

Adventure of children and adults, fancied trips and everyday tragedies. The city and the countryside. Real and dreamt life. An experimental film inspired to the life of Emilio Salgari and his novel Yolanda, daughter of the Black Corsair. The movie is part of a series produced by Quarto Film on the 150th anniversary of Salgari's birth.

A film in seven chapters. A documentary overwhelmed by life. A story with no plot. A trip. From the countryside to cities, from Italy to India to Greece. Through the ages and generations, through the work of farmers and the exploitation of migrant bodies. In the end, the singing and music lead you elsewhere, to the pleasure of discovery.

For Filmmaker Film Festival (2023), Fulvio Baglivi and Cristina Piccino asked some filmmakers (R. Beckermann, J. Bressane, D’Anolfi/Parenti, T. De Bernardi, L. Di Costanzo, A. Fasulo, F. Ferraro, M. Frammartino, S. George, ghezzi/Gagliardo, C. Hintermann, G. Maderna, A. Momo, A. Rossetto, M. Santini, C. Simon, S. Savona) to give us their own "lost road," that is, a sequence, scene or piece of editing that did not later find its way into the final version of one of their works. Each fragment has its own accomplished presence, often has a different title from the film it was made for, which is not necessary to have seen in order to find meaning; on the contrary, those who set out thinking they know the world they are walking through will find themselves displaced.
