American tour guide Mo Alexander misses her tour group, and then her flight out of Paris. In this sardonic comedy, after an executive is killed in a mysterious automobile accident, the French offices of his multinational company is inundated with mysteriously threatening be-ribboned anti-capitalist tracts, delivered overnight to everyone's desks. Later, the executive's body is brought to company offices for an official wake -- only no one at the company has ordered that such a thing be done. A mysterious prankster, who is able to imitate the voice of the company's president, has arranged these things. When Americans from the head office get wind of these developments, they institute a search for the perpetrator which leads to mysterious subterranean passages under the company's skyscraper.

Georges Despeu, an employee without stature or fortune, is about to receive his daughter Barbara whom he has not seen since her early childhood. She returns from the United States to meet her father. With the complicity of his brother, guardian of the Monjambier's property, Georges decides to settle in the luxurious villa and to play the rich owner not to disappoint his daughter. Things get complicated when, on the one hand, two gangsters on the run take refuge in the villa, and on the other hand, Mr. Monjambier decides to try his luck with his secretary and also arrives at the villa to spend a fraudulent weekend.

A group of friends—Julien, Sophie, Gaspard, Caroline, and Victor—are planning a major mountaineering trip to climb the Tibetan peaks in July, under the supervision of their friend Sébastien, a medical student. Shortly before their departure, Sébastien breaks his leg and has to give up a summer job as an instructor at a thalassotherapy center in Le Touquet, which was meant to finance his studies. Victor then offers to replace him, and the others decide to go to Tibet anyway.
