Briscoe leases land from Latimer. When oil is found Latimer tries to stop Briscoe from renewing the lease. Tom arrives and fights off Latimer and his men to renew the lease. But Latimer is not done. Now he shoots Briscoe, kidnaps Buddy, and blames Tom who is arrested and put in jail.

Two young orphans, Buddy and Lucille Roberts, living in an old dark mansion atop a mountain are assailed regularly by ghostly apparitions and mysterious death threats. Successful Parisian dancer Yvonne Halbert grows tired of the overwatchfulness of her aunt and runs away to America. Disguised and hiding out in the steerage of a boat, Yvonne meets violinist Luigi. She dances to Luigi's accompaniment in a Greenwich Village cabaret, where she is discovered by David Marston, the producer who had negotiated to bring the famous Yvonne to America. Marston signs the supposed unknown performer and intends to bill her under the name of Yvonne, whom he believes has broken her contract with him. Apache dancer Cecile claims to be the real Yvonne, but matters are straightened out with the arrival of Aunt Marie. Yvonne marries Lawrence Bartlett, the author of the play that features her in America.

Vic Stanley, a wandering cowboy, is found by Clint Taggart and his daughter, Amy, after he has escaped from a band of rustlers. Upon recovering his sight from a desert sandstorm, he sees and falls in love with Amy and becomes resolute in his decision to uncover the identity of the rustlers and particularly their leader, "The Eagle." Though blind during his capture, he nevertheless recognizes the voice of The Eagle in McElroy, a leading banker. After another escape from the gang, Vic manages to save Taggart and Amy from The Eagle's sticky clutches, exposes their operation, and proceeds on course with Amy.

Wealthy, spoiled society girl Judith Stafford accepts a marriage proposal from rich European Count Henri and adopts his arrogance and contempt for American "barbarians". Reggie Dillingham, a spendthrift socialite, is challenged by his lawyer to support himself for six months; Reggie finds a job as a newspaper editor to keep quiet about a compromising photo of a powerful politician, but soon discovers his boss is involved in bootlegging and uses the newspaper to expose him, despite threats, with the help of his loyal staff, leading to the boss's arrest and Reggie's financial windfall.
