The film is set in the 1970s Leningrad, Russia. Fugitive Brunov is a dangerous criminal, who escaped from jail. He is after the treasure that was hidden by him years ago at his former country-house. He is having plastic surgery to hide his identity, while preparing for his next crime. He is trying to kill another man, who is also after the same treasure. Investigators Zarubin, Kromkin and Lebedeva are untangling the case.

After fifteen years of wandering, Ivan Shalnev returned to his native village for the summer. Autumn arrived quickly. He hadn't managed to accomplish everything he had planned. But he realized where his happiness lay, and he stayed forever...

A thief named Egor, having served a term in prison, goes to the country to meet his pen-friend Lyuba, a kind genial village woman. Egor comes to love Lyuba sincerely. Now he has friends, work and a beloved woman, he decides to break with his criminal past and start a new life. However, his former criminal associates interfere brutally.

The movie takes place in the first post-war winter in the Ussuri taiga, one of the protected areas of the Far East, where there are still tigers. Young biologist Vasily Belov attracts local residents to his side and defeats poachers.

Crowded alleys of the evening park, music, laughter, festive fireworks. And the two are talking about murder or suicide, about the syringe found in the dead woman's hands, about the time when death occurred. These two are employees of the criminal investigation department. They will have to find criminals in a large, busy business city who stole, cheated, and, if necessary, did not stop at murder, removing unintended witnesses or unreliable accomplices from their path.

The year is 1943. A scientific expedition led by Professor Sagdulaev is working in the Karakum sands. In the sands, not far from them, a German plane drops paratroopers disguised in Soviet military uniforms. The saboteurs have a mission: to take explosives hidden in the ruins of an old fortress and blow up the strategic bridge over the Amu Darya. The members of the expedition engage in an unequal battle with the enemies…

When a young man wants to marry a poor girl, her cousin envies her very much. She even makes everybody believe that the main character was in love with her. He escapes from many difficulties in order to find his beloved who also became trapped in a luxurious villa with some strange relatives. The people inside villa are vampires, they were called upyri in those days in Russia. They suck blood of anyone who comes to see them. The young man too much in love so he looses his head and goes directly to the nest of vampires.

The movie intertwines the plot lines of the stories "In the Bathhouse", "Tears Invisible to the World", "A Conversation between a Man and a Dog" and others. By the will of the film's creators, the viewer gets to the rehearsals of an unusual choir and gets acquainted with the stories of the singers - diverse, but invariably amusing.
