A telephone operator from Mexico City tries to support a family and her passion for popular dance.

Alejandra, a drugstore clerk, receives a note from a strange man. The note only shows a number, but Alejandra seems to understand its meaning. That night, Alejandra walks directly to a creepy downtown hotel, climbs the stairs and finds the man waiting for her in a room. The strange rendez-vous is not what it seems to be.

In a small town where nothing ever happens, the inhabitants learn about a place at the edge of the earth where money and women are abundant. When they see the oportunity to go and work illegaly in the United States, they jump at the chance. Meanwhile Andrés and Gregorio go to the town searching for treasures and they only find Matilde, the rest of the women in the town left, tired of waiting for the men to return.

Susana, a beautiful young girl living in 1990, is happily looking forward to her forthcoming marriage - and has bought an antique mirror to grace her future home. Three weeks before the wedding, the mirror is delivered to her Grandmother's home and taken to Susana's room. Later that day, when looking into the glass, Susana is startled to see the image of a handsome soldier, Nicolas (from 1863), instead of her own reflection. It soon becomes obvious that he can see Susana as clearly as she can see him - and life, for them both, is never quite the same again. Rodrigo and Mariano plot a robbery; Rodrigo's station wagon will be the get away car. They dream of their wealth to be. A triangle is established when a whore appears, creating a relation of treason and mistrust amongst them. The prostitute and the drunkard rob Rodrigo and Mariano, leaving them without their dream and everything else.
