Saifudin Saif

The year 1947 saw the independence of Pakistan. During this time, the Indian film industry was segregated and the only film production centre left in Pakistan was at Lahore. With the industry reeling in its infancy, it was hard to work on film productions that had been initiated before the independence as many of the working filmmakers and actors had left for or stayed back in India.

During the 1947 Partition, a mother and her children are separated while migrating to Pakistan. Years later, the siblings grow up in different parts of society, unaware of each other’s lives. The film follows their separate journeys and focuses on family ties shaped by loss and separation.

Two kids insist that their father, who recently lost his wife, should marry a variety singer. The story explores how this decision impacts their lives and how their family dynamics change.

Anjuman is a tragic character, based on the courtesan lives of women in South Asia. Its about a "Tawaiif" or a courtesan falling in love and her tragic ending.
