Gilberto Rossi

A documentary short on the life and works on José Medina, one of early Brazilian cinema's most renowed pioneers.

A farm owner had a son, Vivia, who played with a settler's daughter. The two grew up together and became very fond of each other; over time, their friendship blossomed into love. Then the father sent the boy to study in the capital. Gigi suffered greatly from his absence and spent her time waiting for his return. Finally, the big day arrived: she learned that the boy was returning. He did return, but he was accompanied by someone else: to marry a girl from the capital. As soon as he arrived, the boy sent for Gigi to introduce her to his wife. This is where the story reached its climax; Gigi resisted the news of the wedding, but could not withstand the final blow. The pain was so great that Gigi poisoned herself and died.

During a robbery that goes wrong, Valentin Tralande kills his accomplices and bank customers.

In a building site, a worker agonizes, after an accident, and tells his son about the virtues of honest work, but he's not heard. Turned into a vagabond and having mean people as company, the youth decides to get arrested in order to find a solace against winter. When he finally decides to follow his father advice and get himself a job, he falls under the influence of a policeman, under the false accusation of robbery.

A film based on a poem by Cassiano Ricardo that described the city of São Paulo with its factories, houses, streetcars, lights, life, etc.; a young woman recited the poem while the images showed what she was saying. "Canto da Raça" was never even shown; Getúlio Vargas ordered the censors to seize it on charges of "parochialism." The film was burned; not even the negative survived; everything was burned.

Isaura, a white slave, is constantly harassed by Leôncio, a landlord and her owner by inheritance. However, she refuses to give in to his desires and escape.

Brazil, late 17th century. An adventurer joins an expedition, but secretly he's out to find a treasure following a map left by his father.
