Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz, pseudonym "Witkacy" (February 24, 1885 – September 18, 1939) was a Polish writer, painter, philosopher, and photographer. He was active in the interwar period. In the work of Witkacy, a central place is occupied by dramas and novels, shaped by the theory of pure form and a catastrophic vision of civilization.
