Pavlos, a conservatory student dreaming of becoming a great artist of quality music, lives with his fiancée Kaiti in a small room, hosted by two friends. Due to financial tribulations, he is forced to join his friends' folk band and performs every night at a night club. That's were Mr Giorgos and his lover Liza frequent. Liza, a rich girl, falls in love with Pavlos and tries to seduce him. However, when she realizes how deeply he loves his fiancée, decides to help him get back together with Kaiti.

Madalena is a tough seventeen-year-old who is forced to take on her father's ferry business after he dies. She has her many brothers and sisters to support, and there is no one else to do the job. So she rallies her defenses and sets out to give her rival in the ferry business a run for his money. But at the same time, the rival's handsome son is starting to look better and better. Madalena refuses to acknowledge her feelings for him -- though how long she can sustain that denial is the question.

Intent on marrying into money, two antagonists will stop at nothing to seduce a young heiress, renouncing their sweethearts just to get a greater chance at a lucrative love. But, what does the girl have to say about their risky business?

Four stories, humorous, romantic or dramatic, are linked by a counterfeit gold sovereign. It is made by the honest engraver in the first story, seduced by the charms of a young widow, and it subsequently passes into the hands of a beggar and a prostitute, a wealthy miser and a newly married couple where the husband is a poor artist.

Angelos, a law student in Athens, is expecting Lavrentis, his rich uncle from the village, hoping that with his money, his luck will change. His uncle though is very sick and the doctors suggest rest and calmness. Youyou, Angelos' girlfriend though suggests otherwise in order to push the rich uncle closer to his death. And so, Angelos, with two friends from his village, Damian and Sarantis start partying with Lavrentis whose health starts getting better and better. In the meantime Angelos meets Myrto, falls madly in love with her and decide to finish his studies and marry her.

A veteran general, living poorly but honestly with his wife and his daughter, is visited by his future son-in-law who informs him that he is going to immigrate to Australia. On the same day, his cousin Apostolos pays him a visit as well and tells him that the government intending to honor him has decided to construct his statue and place it at the small square in front of his house.

This film narrates six different stories in a very lyrical way: a coachman wanders around town; two elderly people go to the park every Sunday; a man leaves flowers in various neighbourhoods in memory of a friend who was killed during the war; a boy narrates how they celebrated his father’s name-day; a member of the resistance lives his last moments; a woman keeps waiting for a letter which never arrives. Madame X (Greek title: I Agnostos) is a 1954 Greek drama film directed by Orestis Laskos. It is based on the 1908 play by French playwright Alexandre Bisson (1848-1912). Thrown out of her home by a jealous husband, a woman sinks into degradation. Twenty years later, she is charged with killing a man bent on harming her son. The son, unaware of who the woman is, takes the assignment to defend her in court.
