Vaikom Muhammad Basheer

A novelist comes to haunted house and starts writing story on the ghost named Bhargavi. The novelist understands the cruel death of Bhargavi and her lover.

Kadhaveedu' is a dedication to Malayalam being accorded the Shresthabhaasha (Malayalam has been declared a Classical language in 2013) status and presents, as a single entity, three different stories penned by the doyens of Malayalam literature - Vaikkom Muhammed Basheer, M T Vasudevan Nair and Madhavikutty. The film is an anthology with adaptations of stories written by renowned Malayalam fiction writers Basheer, M. T. Vasudevan Nair and Madhavikutty (Kamala Surayya).. The stories have been tweaked to fit in a modern setting and the script has been conceived by the director himself.

A young, enthusiastic and free-spirited writer arrives to stay in a desolate mansion, rumored to be haunted by the apparition of a young woman named Bharghavi who committed suicide when she was betrayed in love. The writer, who begins to pen her story, soon realizes that there is more to her tragic tale.

Mathilukal ('Walls') is a free adaptation of the novelette of the same name, written by the celebrated Malayalam writer, Vaikom Muhammad Basheer. Autobiographical in character, it is set against the background of India’s freedom struggle in the ’40s when he was serving a term of imprisonment in the Trivandrum Central Jail. When the film opens, we see Basheer in a police lock-up, quite at home in the company of a few petty criminals. He has been languishing there for more than a year now without a trial.

Born to rich parents, Majeed falls in love with his not-so-affluent neighbor Suhra. After her father's death, when Suhra struggles to make both ends meet, Majeed pleads with his father to sponsor her education. Refused, he wanders off to distant lands.
