Justiina pushes Pekka and Pätkä to take painting lessons after realizing that art can be a way to earn a living. With the help of the yard children, a painting is created that wins first prize at a contemporary art exhibition. In the meantime, the men, along with their assistant Miss Kaihokielo, have been charged with art theft. After the misunderstanding is cleared up, the Puupääs use the art prize money to convert the house's bomb shelter into a children's clubroom.

He accidentally wanders into the shower room and tries to get out disguised as a cleaner, but ends up in the same bed as gymnastics teacher Marjatta. Private Pöntinen, who is dating the boarding school cook, has a blast when he gets his hands on Captain Routa's uniform.

Evakko

Evakko is a portrayal of Soviet-Finnish winter war of 1939/40 and the associated evacuations in different parts of the country. It tells the story of a Karelian family along with their whole village who were forced to leave their homes because of the war. The film has a surprisingly perky tone for the subject matter.

Eliisa Raaska, who lives in the Soviet Union, wants to move to Finland to be with her beloved Mikko Vanhalan, but she does not want to leave her elderly and sick father in Ingria.

Pastor Petrelius does not accept the marriage wishes of his young daughter Karoliina and Paavo Paavalinpoika. Paavo wants to prove his manhood to the pastor and enlists in the King's forces, but is wounded in the Battle of Pultava. The resourceful friends and their cat Mörökölli cause all sorts of trouble, especially for the tough female commissar Vengrovska, who is more of a pretty opponent than a scary one.
