The movie begins with a disenchanted poet who, having had his fill of the world, decides to hide out in a large department store. There are many floors, dusty nooks and crannies, and forgotten storerooms where he can secret himself. He believes he has found the peace and serenity he seeks--away from humankind--in order to write his poetry. To his initial horror, he finds he is not alone. There are Others who have also sought refuge in the dark places of the department store. He quickly finds himself at the mercy of this clandestine social underclass, for none may leave and risk exposing those who have spent years in the store. What quickly evolves is a chilling tale involving the poet and a young woman who had lost her way in the store while a mere child, and who has since spent her entire life as the downtrodden handmaid to the evil matriarch who rules her clan with an iron fist.

The film is based on the story The Emperor Felix written by Gustav Aagaard, rewritten for the film by Gunnar Nilsen-Vig, who also photographed the film. Rasmus Breistein directed the film.

Siv Blom is a young impulsive girl with a special ability to come up in extraordinary situations. The art painter comes to admire her naivete, but doesn't have enough time for her. After that Siv stumbles across a new man, a junior manager in the firm Høyland & Høyland. Høyland jr. falls for Miss Blom, but definitely not his mother. Therefore Siv is sent on business to Stockholm and thus she meets man no. 3, the womanizer Victor Wahlin. Who to marry now that Siv has acquired three very eager suitors whom all wants Siv's consent. The stage is set for many intrigues. Who wins?

We meet the young violinist Øyvind Dahl at a time when everything has weighed him down and he is completely desperate for alcohol. He has left his wife and children and has teamed up with emaciated artists and suspicious individuals, and obtains his daily liquor by mortgaging his last possessions, even the wedding ring, and by pitifully barring money.

Based on the 1931 novel To levende og en død by Sigurd Christiansen. A post office worker is left wrestling with his conscience following a robbery at his workplace.

Erik Dahl escapes from prison where he is serving a sentence for smuggling. He seeks out his family, but the police have already been there, and he will have to flee. Erik alters their appearance and start a new life as fishmonger in a small town, but he plans to leave the country...

The young wife of an upper-class academic disappears while her husband is on holiday. In his search for her, the husband learns that there was much he did not know both about her past and about their relationship.

A Norwegian mistaken identity comedy. At Krogheby Manor, owned by the Vinkelkrogh family, four ghosts reside. Per Aabel plays Johnny Vinkelkrogh, who visits his aunt Clementine. He happens to look exactly like one of the ghosts, and confusion ensues when the two are mistaken for each other.
