Welcome to Rozumov—a village where everyone knows everything about everyone else, where neighborly feuds are passed down from generation to generation, and no scandal stays hidden behind closed gates for long. For years, the village has been torn apart by a feud between two irreconcilable families. On one side stands the Šmrha family, on the other the Průša family, and both are convinced that truth, honor, and common sense reside solely with them. Their children, Karel and Marie, however, are secretly in love despite their fathers’ wishes. When Marie, after yet another family spat, agrees to participate in the reality TV show Blind Wedding, she causes quite a stir in Rozumov. Karel is distraught, the parents are furious, and a TV crew—along with an eccentric Swedish metalhead—arrives in the village. So, in a haze of alcohol, Šmrha and Průša call an unexpected truce and devise a plan to save their children from a televised embarrassment: they’ll secretly marry them off by proxy.

Emil Skamene has written more than 250 scientific publications, won dozens of distinguished awards, and was even on the verge of winning the Nobel Prize. He is the founder of the Institute for Clinical Research at McGill University in Montreal, a member of the Czech Learned Society, and a Knight of the National Order of Quebec. His life was a history that changed the whole of Europe and the world. His story is full of unbelievable and completely absurd situations that can only happen in real life.

The story is freely inspired by the life and work of Jan Saudek, who is probably the most well-known Czech photographer internationally and has indisputably been involved in the development of international photography. He has exhibited and sold his work in the largest galleries and art houses, he has earned international recognition and awards, he enjoys great popularity and interest - he is a true phenomenon.

Inspector Hatcher is sent to investigate the death. When he arrives, he finds a household consisting of five women. When questioned by the inspector, each of the women tells a different story, all of which are illustrated by flashback scenes showing the events as related by that particular person. Everybody seems to protect somebody and the inspector becomes increasingly intoxicated as he tries to untangle the web of lies in his endeavour to find out the truth.
