Bumba is a somewhat naughty, but always cheerful clown who performs his tricks in a circus full of sound and color. He gets help from his best friend Bumbalu, while the bird Kiwi, the bear Nanadu, the elephant Tumbi and many other colorful figures also join in the fun. In their circus, Bumba and the others experience short adventures and situations that are very recognizable for the little ones.

Little Loes has to go to bed on time every night, together with her favorite cuddly toy Bumba! But suddenly her cuddly toy comes to life and takes her to a world where anything is possible. She ends up in the Bumbcircus! Together with the circus director, Bumba, and his friends, she experiences the funniest adventures! When Loesje goes to sleep, she dreams about Bumba, Bumbina, and the circus director. Bumbina gives her a ribbon as a gift and teaches Loesje how to dance with it.
