The soon-to-be exes tell their stories to the judge, who gives the ruling and settles all the usual -- and unusual -- divorce issues by the end of the episode. This third incarnation of the show premiered on August 30, 1999, with the first having premiered in 1957. This current incarnation has seen different presiding judges: former Los Angeles prosecuting attorney Mablean Ephriam (1999–2006), former municipal court judge Lynn Toler (2006–2020), former NYC prosecutor Faith Jenkins (2020–2022), and former Brooklyn A.D.A. Star Jones (2022- ). Since the debut of the original series in 1957, it is one of the longest-running syndicated television programs of all time. Divorce Court also holds the record for the longest-running court show of all time, leading the second-place show The People's Court by two years.

Steve Harvey is a syndicated American talk show that is hosted by comedian/actor/radio personality Steve Harvey, who also serves as its executive producer. This is his first television talk foray, which is produced by Endemol and distributed by NBCUniversal Television Distribution in the United States and Canada. The program debuted on September 4, 2012, and it is Harvey's second syndicated program in which he handles hosting duties, as he continues to host Family Feud at the same time. The series is taped in Chicago at the WMAQ studios. The show attracted 2.2 million viewers daily and, in January 2013, Steve Harvey was renewed for a second season. The series has since been renewed for three additional seasons through 2016.

Its theme song, "Make It Right," was written by singer Kari Kimmel.
