Lauri and Anna are released from prison. They run into trouble when they cannot find work because of their past. Lauri obtains false identity papers, which enable him to get a job at a factory. A dangerous criminal named Asseri begins blackmailing Lauri, who is using the alias "Pentti Tahvana." Lauri's true identity is revealed in connection with the murder of Kaalep, the factory's night watchman.

“Tukkijoella” (Log River – 1928). The hotel owned by widow Ida Hentola is full of artists who can't pay their bills. The energetic manager isn't too happy about her daughter Mirjami and painter Akseli Niemelä getting all lovey-dovey. Misunderstandings caused by a lottery ticket mess up the hotel.

Tar Steam Princess Armada travels along Lake Saimaa to St. Petersburg and back during the years of Russian rule over Finland. The ship's crew gets tired of their sophisticated coffee maker and replaces her with Roma girl Veera, who has escaped from an arranged marriage. On the way back, mysterious passengers appear on the ship.
