Jakucho Setouchi

Depicts various relationships between four beautiful sisters, their husbands, and their second daughter's husband's mistress.

The story, set in the heady post-war 50s into the early 60s , revolves around a love triangle between Tomoko, long playing the mistress to married older writer Shitto and the new stud who comes into her life, Ryota Kinoshita. Tomoko is sick and tired of her relationship with writer Shingo, who is married and has children. Shingo is a talented writer, but has yet to be recognized by the public. Tomoko then enters into a sexual relationship with younger man Ryota Kinoshita, but Tomoko is not satisfied.

The story follows Tomoko, a writer who becomes involved in a strange and distant relationship with Shingo, a married novelist. Though they haven't seen each other in years, an unexpected connection forms. However, tensions rise, especially when Ryota, Tomoko’s ex-boyfriend, reappears in her life. As complications grow, Tomoko realizes she no longer loves Shingo and chooses to break away, despite the loneliness. Eventually, she decides to live independently, also leaving Ryota, and starts anew by the end of summer.
