Right outside of Moscow – home to the highest number of billionaires pr. capita – you’ll find the largest junkyard in the world: The Svalka. It’s a hard place run by the Russian mafia. And it's where Yula lives with her mother, her friends and many other people. Life is tough in the Svalka, but it’s also a place where beauty and humanity can arise from the most unlikely conditions. It is from this place that Yula dreams of escaping and changing her life, even if it seems impossible. Oscar-nominated director Hanna Polak followed Yula for 14 years, bringing us along on Yula's journey to achieve this dream.

The film is about Eloy, a Chilean bandit and companion of Joaquín Murieta, who is wanted by the justice system on the border with Argentina. Although an escape seems impossible, in desperation he flees without a fixed destination.

The film tells the story of a real life fan of Boca Juniors football club, Mary Esher Duffau, who as a teenage girl adopted the identity of a man in order to survive on the streets of Buenos Aires. The film shows the teenage Raulito wandering between a reformatory for juvenile offenders, prison and psychiatric hospital. Raulito manages to escape, and finds work at Constitución railway station in Barrio Constitución. Raulito meets up with another street child and they become close friends. They both eventually manage to escape to Mar del Plata.

This documentary follows the 1970 Chilean elections, which resulted in the election of Salvador Allende. The footage reveals the political and social divisions in a country plagued by poverty, malnutrition, and homelessness. Allende, newly elected, reflects on his future government and his subsequent assassination. One could say that this footage became a chilling and prophetic chronicle of a death foretold.
