An actor's world comes crashing down after he learns that his wife has left him.

Over more than thirty years, a department of the Condesa in Mexico City, is the setting in which they are carried out ten stories, mixed, form one whose only constant is the rupture. The passage of time and the outside world only guess through the windows and objects that come with the characters. The set is a great solitude, possible in a city of the blind.

Daniel is a member of The Organization. He is sent on an assignment to Bilbao to determine what has become of a lad his age, a former member. He takes over the boy's room in an odd rooming house. When he is given the photo of the boy's girlfriend, he is so taken with it that he puts off his quest. The Organization requires him to continue, however, so he tracks her down to a remote fishing village.

A terrible disease is found in a Mexican town. A doctor tries to alert the authorities when he discovers its epidemic nature. No one listen to him and soon after the disease spreads. The government tries to control the information in order to prevent panic.

In Mexico City's infamous Lecumberri prison, three drug-addicted convicts celebrate getting drugs from one of their the mothers. They are found out and locked up in the "apando," the dreaded punishment cell. Protests over the treatment of those held in the cell lead to a bloody confrontation.

David is in love with his neighbor Rosalba and follows her everywhere. Rosalba, heartbroken because her boyfriend left her, decides to marry David.

A woman is sent to Mexico to kill the person who presumptly killed her father.

(In a dark basement) Norma hears the faint voice of Everio and her own, from an Ampex vintage tape recorder. They have been talking incessantly, and *oftentimes the taped conversations coincide with their *chats. The only thing troubling Norma is that until that day, she and Everio had never met and the last she heard was Everio strangling her.

Maria escapes from prison. On the run, she breaks her ankle. Julian, a truck driver, finds her sitting at the roadside, crying. He picks her up and takes her to a hospital. On her first chance, Maria flees again and goes to a hotel, where she ends up as a prostitute. She frequents bars and saloons, commits some robberies, but neither sex, nor the tequila, can replace love.

Teen angst in Mexico City is made all the worse by a young provincial woman's infatuation for a ghost, in this effective drama about disturbed youth. Aida arrives in Mexico City and is immediately introduced into the world of drugs and sex by the friends she meets. Before long, she is having visions of the ghostly "El Humo" ("Smoke") and after she meets him at a party, they both are struck by Cupid's arrow. After some back-and-forth stepping around the nature of their relationship, El Humo disappears for five days, and Aida is distraught -- she locks herself up in her dark room, smokes some weed, takes a few hallucinogenic mushrooms, and then has a vision that clears up the mystery surrounding El Humo.
