When an innovative modern architect flees post-war Europe, he is given the opportunity to rebuild his legacy. Set during the dawn of the modern United States (in Pennsylvania), his wife joins him, and their lives are forever changed by a demanding, wealthy patron.

Márta, a 40-year-old neurosurgeon, falls in love. She leaves her shining American career behind and returns to Budapest to start a new life with the man she loves. But she waits for him at the Liberty Bridge in vain – he does not appear at their rendezvous. Márta starts to search for him desperately, but when she finally finds him, the love of her life claims that they have never met before.

The 22-year-old Antal is a member of the hated political police. In October of 1956, during the revolution in Budapest, he escapes the wrath of the people by fleeing to the countryside house of his aunt, a Holocaust survivor. Aunt Sára tries her best to mother him and divert the attention of battered Antal with an old favorite song. When the Soviets launch an attack against Hungary on November 4, Antal is determined to join them in order to get his revenge. But Aunt Sára’s song keeps ringing in his ears, no matter how hard he tries to push it away. He has an unbearable earworm. When the time finally comes for vengeance, his earworm gets the better of him. The song becomes a macabre dance of death...

The film tells the story of Dávid, an eighteen-year-old negligent teen. After eight years of being apart, Dávid and his mother move back from Vojvodina to Hungary to live with Dávid’s father. We slowly discover Dávid’s secret operation: he illegally transports refugees across the border for money, in order to fund his move abroad.

The story revolves around Krisztina, an art teacher who is progressively losing her sight as a complication of diabetes. It engenders a crisis, not only in her own life but also in that of her son. Máté must contend with the state of his mother’s health immediately following the birth of his first child. He does his best to help Krisztina, but his life is gradually torn between his increasingly clingy mother and his own little family. Krisztina, meanwhile, fears being alone in the dark…
